Sub-Deacon David Johnson

A 1982 graduate of the University of Alabama, Sub-Deacon David was raised as an Episcopalian.  Interestingly, the parish priest who catechized David, was ordained as an Orthodox priest in 2000.  David served as both a licensed lay reader and “in the altar”, in various Anglican communities through the years.  Sub-Deacon David’s own journey to Orthodoxy began in 2003, (lots of reading, and occasional Orthodox service attendance), and meandered through several traditional Anglo-Catholic communities until his Chrismation into Holy Orthodoxy in 2016.  David was tonsured as a reader and ordained as a Sub-Deacon by Metropolitan Hilarion in February, 2017.  He lives and works in the Richmond (Va.) area with his wife of 27 years, 2 “20-ish” children (aka Thing 1 and Thing 2), and 2 schnauzers.  He is a regular contributor to the parish Facebook page(s) and helps to compile the various weekly printed materials as needed.
