ABOUT US
Our Vision
St. Tikhon Orthodox Church is a beacon to the lost and weary, welcoming all those who thirst for the unchanging Faith that was delivered once and for all time by Jesus Christ. At St. Tikhon’s, we strive to continuously grow in faith and spiritual maturity as genuine disciples of Christ, and live the Faith authentically in thought, word, and deed.
Our Mission
As a loving, Christ-centered family rooted in the Orthodox faith, we welcome all to healing and a deeper relationship with Christ. We live out our faith by centering ourselves around the Holy Mysteries and by loving and serving our community, following the example of Jesus Christ, giving glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in word and practice.
Our History
St. Tikhon Orthodox Church was founded in 2016 under the omophorion of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion (Kapral) of blessed memory. We began as a Western Rite mission of ROCOR in Church Hill, Richmond, VA, then moved to a chapel in Lakeside, VA. After losing access to this worship space during the COVID pandemic of 2020, we prayerfully sought a property that would best allow us to glorify God, grow our faith, and serve our community. Our current rented space in Ruther Glen, VA allows us all of this and more.
In January of 2024, our parish requested and received a blessing to serve the Eastern Liturgical rite of ROCOR under His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas (Olhovsky).
Our parish is growing as people from a wide variety of backgrounds have found their journey to Christ bolstered through the rich Tradition of Orthodox Christianity, each person bringing a unique light and energy to our community.
Due to our growth, we seek the Lord's guidance in finding a permanent location in Caroline County, VA where we have potential to expand our support of the faithful, the community, and our children.
